BIO2CARE training workshops, entitled "A holistic look at the sustainable management of protected areas"

On Thursday, July 9, 2020, the Laboratory of Environmental Management and Industrial Ecology - LEMIE of DUTH, as the Lead Beneficiary of the project "Reinforcing Protected Areas Capacity through an Innovative Methodology for Sustainability" (BIO2CARE), funded by the INTERREG COOPERATION PROGRAMME "GREECE - BULGARIA 2014 - 2020" organized, with the participation of the Greek Biotope – Wetland Centre (EKBY) (project beneficiary 4), two (2) training workshops, entitled "A holistic look at the sustainable management of protected areas".

Workshops presented topics related to the protection of biodiversity, the application of the principles of the circular economy, the development of symbiotic actions, the implementation of eco-labeling in protected areas and sustainable tourism development in them. The workshops were implemented in the framework of actions D5.2 (Targeted workshops regarding biodiversity preservation, circular economy and symbiotic activities) and D5.3 (Targeted workshops regarding BIO2CARE labeling scheme).

Workshops were attended by 61 people, staff members of the Local Government, staff members of the Management Bodies of Protected Areas from all over Greece, primary and secondary education teachers active in environmental education, undergraduate and postgraduate students, of Democritus University of Thrace.
