Overall Objective
BIΟ2CARE project's overall objective is to reinforce Protected Areas management Bodies administrative capacity for the benefit of biodiversity as well as of local communities in an innovative and integrated approach. Two protected areas with diverse characteristics were chosen as case studies areas, i.e. the National Park of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace from Greece and the National Park of Rila from Bulgaria.

Expected Results
The project will result in the development of effective common approaches in biodiversity management and protection on both sides of the border through:
a) the development of original tools regarding decision-making and environmental impact assessment deriving from man-made activities in the protected areas;
b) the installation of special monitoring equipment to control illegal activities within their boundaries;
c) improving the experience of visitors through the development of family-friendly routes for people with disabilities and the development of a specialized application for smartphones;
d) providing specific training and information to selected target groups in the region, and
e) further networking and communication actions.
