Two protected areas with diverse characteristics were chosen as case studies areas, i.e. the National Park of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace from Greece and the National Park of Rila from Bulgaria. Photos composition: Snowy mountain landscape, wetland, birds, animals, and flowers **Page 8** BIO2CARE Expected Results The project will result in the development of effective common approaches in biodiversity management and protection on both sides of the border through: a) the development of original tools regarding decision-making and environmental impact assessment deriving from man-made activities in the protected areas; b) the installation of special monitoring equipment to control illegal activities within their boundaries; c) improving the experience of visitors through the development of family-friendly routes for people with disabilities and the development of a specialized application for smartphones; d) providing specific training and information to selected target groups in the region, and e) further networking and communication actions.
